Corporate Social Investment
UTi has always exercised social responsibility in a manner that promotes education of the disadvantaged. We have a strong focus on social projects dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS, and the promotion of industry specific projects that develop scarce or critical skills. Internally, we have carried out an HIV Prevalence test and have formulated a specific HIV/AIDS policy and strategy that is industry relevant. Our programme includes an HIV/AIDS road side clinic in Port Elizabeth and an on-going awareness programme staffed by peer-counsellors.
We have been actively involved in Learnerships since 2002. The learners are predominantly unemployed and the majority tend to be female, but all are offered valuable work experience at UTi. In addition, we sponsor students at various tertiary education institutes, backed by vacation work and opportunities for full time work as interns.
UTi Sun Couriers also supports CANSA and Choc in the fight against cancer.
