UTi Worldwide Inc.
UTi was founded in 1976 with the intention of creating a global forwarding and clearing company.

Today UTi Worldwide has achieved its aim, providing air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage and other supply chain management services on a global basis. The company serves a large and diverse base of global and local companies, including customers operating in industries with unique supply chain requirements such as the pharmaceutical, apparel, chemical, automotive and technology industries.

Through its supply chain planning and optimisation services, UTi assist its customers in designing and implementing solutions that improve the predictability and visibility, and reduce the overall costs of their supply chains. With its global network, proprietary information technology systems, relationships with transportation providers and expertise in outsourced logistics services, UTi seeks to deliver competitive advantage to its customers’ global supply chain.

Business operations are managed from eight principal support offices in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, Sydney and in the United States in Los Angeles, California and Columbia, South Carolina.

Sun Couriers International (over border)
International specialises in freight to or from South Africa's surrounding states such as Zimbabwe, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho.

With its substantial client base and having built a reputation for excellent service within South Africa, Sun Couriers came under pressure from its clients to extend its services beyond the borders of South Africa. Therefore the International Division was established circa July 1984.

International is the Southern African partner of the Overseas Courier Services (OCS) network and reciprocates by forwarding all its intercontinental courier material into their network worldwide.

Its main operation is situated within Sun Couriers' hub in Centurion (Midrand), Gauteng. We also have satellite operations within the domestic branches in Cape Town and Durban. Throughout the rest of the country, customer needs are catered for by Sun Couriers extensive domestic offices and exclusive agents network.

Namibia is serviced by its own branch which is based in Windhoek. Countrywide International has a staff complement of nearly 60 dedicated professionals who concentrate exclusively on customers' international requirements.

The division is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which demands that it maintain very high standards.

Overseas Courier Service (OCS)
OCS is an international courier company which sends small parcels for express delivery worldwide. Core services include International Express Couriers (Inbound and Outbound), Global Mail and Express Airfreight.

OCS was started by the Furuzawa family in Tokyo, Japan in 1957. The business initially delivered Japanese newspapers to Japanese nationals abroad, and saw a brilliant opportunity to send urgent documents and parcels at the same time.

In 1998 OCS was bought by UTi, and operates as a franchise in South Africa. The company currently has a global network of over 258 offices and delivers over 70 million business packages globally each year.

Mounties
Express movement of Banking freight such as cheques, mail and other banking documents and instruments.

Mounties provides a same day and overnight courier service to the Banking and other Financial institutions in South Africa. A value added service comprising of internal mail sorts and foot messengers is also offered to our customers.

As a trading division of UTi Sun Couriers (Pty) Ltd, and part of the transport group Uniserv and the Nasdac listed UTi, Mounties has entrenched itself as a local and regional player. With ten branches and seven sub-branches, Mounties services ninety percent of all retail banking outlets throughout South Africa.

Material Handling
Material Handling (MH) is responsible for the design, implementation and on-going improvement of specialised warehousing, distribution and production logistics solutions to meet the specific needs of individual customers.

MH specialises in production logistics, where it receives and warehouses inventory and then feeds the necessary parts onto a customer's production line on a JIT (Just In Time) or SILS (Supply In Line Sequence) basis.

It also specialises in a finished goods environment where it operates the customer's distribution centre and ensures the goods are received, warehoused and distributed to the correct markets on time.

PLC
Started in 2003, PLC focuses on the Automotive industry, supplying logistics services to automotive manufacturers (OEMs - Original Equipment Manufacturers).

PLC consolidates cargo collected from automotive parts suppliers nationally and line haul goods (long distance trucking) to a warehouse near the OEM's point of manufacture. It then deconsolidates the cargo and delivers it as required onto production lines.

The division also manages JIT (Just In Time) deliveries for the OEMs by collecting daily or several times a day from regional automotive parts suppliers and delivering immediately to the manufacturers.

PLC works closely with UTi's Material Handling division.
